Joshua graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, in 2012, where he focused his studies on criminology and the behavior of individuals and communities. Following his undergraduate studies, he was accepted into the Criminal Justice graduate program at Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Metropolitan Campus, where he further developed his understanding of the criminal justice system and the social factors affecting individuals involved in legal proceedings.
After completing his graduate studies in Criminal Justice, Joshua was accepted into the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2017. He subsequently continued his legal education at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Criminal Law in 2018.
Joshua began developing his practical legal skills as a Law Clerk with a civil law firm in Manatí, Puerto Rico. During this time, he gained valuable experience in legal research, appellate writing, legal drafting, and trial preparation, laying the foundation for his future career as a litigator and advocate.
Following the completion of his LL.M., Joshua moved to Florida, where he worked as an Immigration Paralegal from July 2020 through July 2022. During this time, he worked closely with individuals and families navigating the U.S. immigration system and gained extensive practical experience with immigration procedures and the challenges faced by immigrant communities.
Joshua subsequently transitioned to federal service with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Austin, Texas. While working full-time for the federal government, Joshua continued pursuing his goal of becoming a licensed attorney in the United States. He studied for the Minnesota Bar Examination and passed the examination on his first attempt.
After passing the Minnesota Bar and transfer his score to Missouri, Joshua joined Legal Aid of Western Missouri in Kansas City in March 2024. His work with Legal Aid provided him with substantial experience representing individuals in litigation and advocating for clients who often faced significant legal and personal challenges. His practice included Landlord/Tenant matters and allowed him to further develop his courtroom advocacy, client representation, negotiation, and litigation skills.
In May 2025, Joshua transitioned into private practice with a law firm in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where he continued developing his experience in litigation and client representation. Through his work with individuals and families, Joshua recognized the significant need in the Kansas City metropolitan area for attorneys who could provide knowledgeable and compassionate legal representation in both English and Spanish.
In August 2025, Joshua founded The G-E Law Firm, LLC, with the goal of providing accessible, dedicated, and effective legal representation to individuals and families navigating Family Law and Immigration Law matters. His practice is built upon the belief that every client deserves to understand their legal rights, have their concerns heard, and have an advocate committed to protecting their interests.
Joshua is fluent in English and Spanish and is committed to serving the diverse communities of the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding Missouri counties. His academic background in sociology, criminology, and criminal justice, combined with his legal education, federal government experience, litigation background, and immigration experience, allows him to approach each case with a comprehensive understanding of the legal and personal challenges his clients may face.
